Question:

Imagine and write down a set of Gandhian intentions/ aims against each of your chosen theme (in 250 words (each) along with a justification. (Imagination of what a Gandhian alternative).

Answer:

Gandhi’s Main intention and aim is to get “Swaraj” in all these Education, Transport, Economics, Technology, Politics, Governance, social structures, values, works, health, etc.

Swaraj mean home/self-rule. It means striving for total freedom through self-dependence with fearless actions and voluntary/self-suffering. With the principles of service (working without expectations) and sacrifice (Others centered work) with this 3H (Head, Heart and Hand) coordination. Swaraj involves in these Swadeshi, Sarvodaya and Satyagraha.

Swadeshi means hominess, paying attention to things which are near to us. Restricting ourselves to the immediate surroundings. We need to focus on present (immediate surrounding) things without bothering about past and future.

Sarvodaya means upliftment of all beings (Universe). It looks for truth of another being. The foundation for this Sarvodaya is Ahimsa (Not to violate the truth of others), by which welfare will come to the society.

Satyagraha means grasping the truth or asking for the truth of the situation. For grasping the truth we need to bare the self/voluntary suffering with courage. The truth of self is very critical we need courage throughout process. This is the process for love. It will burn self but not others.

Politics and Governance:

Commonly Idea of politics and Governance is to rule by improving the status of some persons or some things through the legislature, executive and judiciary powers. It have the characteristics of this politics and governance is representation, hierarchy, etc. through the political (relating to the government or public affairs of a country/state) power, this power is based on Democracy (A social Contract).

Gandhi Ideology on politics and governance is based on principle of Swaraj, which focus on community building through self-realizing process. Here only self-control self without any pressure from others

In the common politics and governance in safety and security through the representation and hierarchy process, they are destroying the individual liberty. The democracy (social contract) is deciding everything and controlling the individuals. Someone controls us we (most of us) feel pressurize and will (may) not do that work healthfully, if we will do passively it will disturb self and others indirectly.  If we have freedom with responsibility then we can rule ourselves for safely. Ex. In Azim Premji University we (I) get assignment questions 15 days before, we (I) can complete the task freely with responsibilities. (If we manage our time).

Politics and governance have to be done in an informal way neither formal nor casual. In casual we (I) may not work, in formal we (I) may work with pressure, but informal we may work with freedom with responsibility. 

Work:

Ordinarily Work means activity involving efforts. For Gandhi intention and aim of the work is 3H- Head, Heart and Hand coordination activities for the social change (what we want to see in an ideal society) through the self-change, with hope instead of frustration.

Presently we are (I am) the slave of our economic system, we are mostly driven by money, not by our heart. We are mostly working for bodily satisfactions (pleasure) through the money, not for self-satisfaction and self includes Head (Mind), Hand (Body) & Heart (innate quality). If we work with only body it will become mechanical work, there is no value for that, if we work with 3H coordination that work will become organic work, that work will become valuable.

Ex. Brushing teeth if only our body is working means, you will not wash the teeth properly, and also you will not get any satisfaction by this work. If we wash our teeth with 3H coordination, it help in doing our work consciously we will get some satisfaction.
