Practicum Report (23-Aug-2016)
The objective of my Community visit: To understand child life in Vimochan Nagar community.
Observations
in Vimochan nagar community: It is a community
mostly occupied by the migrant people from Andhra Pradesh & Tamil Nadu
region. They all made temporary houses. Mostly those houses are made with Iron
sheets. Their main occupation is make and sell the big size cement bricks to
constructers. Most of their children are going to Konapanna Agharahara
government school. There are nearly 20-30 houses in that construction workers
area.
With the help of
Karthavya Foundation’s members, we conducted games for all children in that
area. All children participated in those games (Running race, frog jumping
& kabaddi). Later that Karthavya foundation members distributed prizes to
winners of the games.
After the games I
informally interacted with 3 small children, I asked them about their
ambitions, likes & dislikes. They gave reply to me. jyothi (3rd
Class) she don’t have any particular aim, but she is interested in
studying. Anitha (7th class)
her aim is to become an engineer & she wants to help her father. basava raj (6th class) aim is to
become a collector to help the country.
What I
thought about community visit:
I thought that
the community visits for us to understand the life of community especially
children life. As a student of M.A.Education (Child Development Learning
student) to develop our practical experiences in field.
Purpose of
the field visit:-
My purpose is to
go there is to get an understanding slum areas. And to explore & experience
myself to see the different conditions of the people.
Comments: Vimochan Nagar is a semi-
slum area for me, there are some pukka houses, temporary houses (Some are built
with mud, plastic covers & etc.).
All children played excitingly & actively in all games. There so
many people felt very happy with our performance. They are speaking with me without any hesitation.
They are very friendly with us & also with others. In construction workers
area so many are living with a feel of satisfaction. It is very nice to here
for me for leading a satisfactionary life. Children are learning &
developing through the interactions, studies & playing, Children are easily
mingled with others & with us also. I think through that they are learning.
I saw different
kinds of people speaking different languages. Unity in diversity is there in
community.
Self-Evaluation:
It is very nice
experience for me to go to vimochan nagar. Satisfaction plays a major role in
development of life. Through active
participation we can learn more things.
