1) What are the micro sociological perspectives on teachers' ways of classifying students? Analyse with examples from your personal or practicum experiences.

Answer: -

Microsociology: - Microsociology is part of sociology. Which deals with sociological perspectives from general to specifying the particular sociological things.  It concerns about nature of daily human activities which are mainly social interactions. Which interpretations not empirical statements but mostly interpretations.

How you define your self will comes in micro sociology.

Labelling Theory: - Labeling is deviance made by people, which is comes from certain expectations which are initially assumed by seeing some different conditions. Labelling is a self-fulfilling prophecy. In this differentiating will happens, but it does not happen inherently. & It explains about clashes of people behaviour with social norms

Micro Sociological Perspectives on teacher’s way of classifying students:-

When teachers will see students for the first time s/he get a personal opinion, based on that teachers will think about children. Which opinions may be based different diverse variables on language, dress, behaviour, test scores, sex, race, etc. Based on these diverse variables the teachers will made a labelling theory on child. Which deviates him/her (Children) from others students in teacher (Instructor) perspectives and it affect the child. But teacher only see the child performance in school itself (Most Probably). It specifies from child to child in teachers mind, based on this the teachers construct labelling theory.

Basically teachers proposal of labelling theory works than other people’s labeling theory how means, If anyone assumes about nature (We want rain to fall, but weather becomes too hot) in this generally labelling theory fails, because sometimes it happens & sometimes it doesn’t happen, but when it comes to teacher mostly the labelling theory will works on the  student. Based on the child capacity in class & exams the teacher will give feedback. If the child is very good in music or drawing or acting etc. the teachers can’t know about that types of skills. They are sticking to some angle labeling them. We all have different roles that are physical, psychological, biological, social & spiritual roles. The teachers have to see in multi-dimensional ways to know about child.  Teachers classify the students based on learning than other.

Important Points:-

Fail & pass is labeling but detaining is not labeling. It gives permanent mark,

Teachers idea is not about the student is from Dalit back ground or other; they think about how they dress, how they behave & etc.  (Teachers classify by learning than other)

Student is not good in English but good in music, teacher is not labeling that. Teacher is stereotyping all things by sticking to single situation.

Labelling is self-fulfilling prophecy,

Assuming about weather & assuming about student both are different. In weather mostly assumption may fail, teacher assumption on student may not fail, because

In the social field the operation of power & authority goes in hand in hand, through knowledge.

Question: - 2

‘The social world is accumulated history…’ writes Pierre Bourdieu.  According to Bourdieu Social world is not like a game of roulette. In the game of roulette every new spin, each new movement is independent from the previous movements, while in society the previous movements (i.e. accumulated history) influence the new movement.

Considering this understanding of the social world analyse the accumulation of cultural and social capital alongside economic capital. How these accumulations impact achievements in School.

Answer:-

The Social World is accumulated history only, I am agreeing with this. (But With some small dramatic changes every time). According to him, Social world is accumulated history through the Cultural, Social & Economic capitals (The Forms of Capital).  Based on these only mostly social world is formed. How means social world is created by accumulation of capital which exists in Cultural, Economic & Social Capitals. (Accumulated history is in the form of these 3 capitals)

In cultural capital we get domestic transmission (Determinant Educational Investment) & hereditary transmission (Sanctioning).

In Cultural Capital again three forms are there, that are embodied state, objectified state & Institutionalized state. In Embodied state the capital comes from mind & body. Through the demonstration child/student will learn in embodied state. S/he by exploring & practicing they learn. In this the instructor personally and specially will take care the student. In embodied state self-improvement will take place. In Objectified state the capital comes through objects (Tools & equipment’s such as paintings, instruments, writings, etc.). The represent of learning is through the objects.  The institutionalized state is separate state in cultural capital, because it can be seen in institutional educational qualifications. In this state extra credentials will be there that are giving certificates, validation will be there in particular time only you learn the things.

Examples for cultural “embodied state” is, if father is a doctor means, the son/daughter will want to pursue MBBS means the father only helps you in learning the MBBS course this is in embodied state.

Example for Cultural “Objectified state” is to get or learn the thing through the objects, if there is guitar in home means child mostly shows interest on this & learn. If it’s not there means they may not think about that. In this practice & exploring is required.

Example for Cultural “Institutionalized State” is to get certificate, with that he can get extra credentials. If the person is institutionalized s/he learns thing in formal way.

In economic capital produced transformation of power & status are defined. The logic of economic capital is conversions from one type to another types. & the conserve the

Social capital mostly acquire through the network of resources which are mainly based on kinship, class, caste, etc. in simply we can say that social capital means membership in a group.

Example:- Dr. Mohan Babu was an famous actor at that time, in Telugu, now his son Vishnu is acting in movies with help of his father privilege. He is getting the chance to act in movies, even though he is not successful as an actor. It is happening because of social capital.

These 3 capitals will determine material & phenomenal world.  Through knowledge & literature they proved that, but these 2 (Knowledge & Literature) also created by social only (Society)

Considering this understanding of the social world analyse the accumulation of cultural and social capital alongside economic capital. How these accumulations impact achievements in School.

The social capital achievement in schools is, the school environment which makes children to follow solidarity with society through school. With that solidarity s/he gets network in society. Like this social accumulation became achievement in school

In One school there are so many children, their family back ground is different, one student father is Doctor & another student father is lawyer, because the 2 student’s friendship they get to know about each other & then with the network they mutually help each other.

The Cultural capital achievement in school is following the cultural norms in schools based on language, religion, region etc. still now also they are following this. This is also an achievement in school.

In most of schools they are values to cultural capitals, in school in the name of cultural programs they are giving indigenous dance training like Bharatanatyam, kuchipudi etc.  In languages 1st preference they are giving to English later 2nd preference is local regional language.

In olden days culture was restricted to particular things only. For example In India Indigenous education was only for upper castes but now the lower caste also getting the indigenous educations in schools  for example Ramayana epic only read by Brahmins, but now in school text books they are publishing as a lessons  now so many are learning thing. It is developing culture. Usually this culture comes from hereditary by embodied they learn, but now it became object for everyone to learn.

In economic I can’t it an achievement. Only school management is profit from these most of schools. Its not achievement but profit to those who runs schools. {For Schools}.
